In 30 seconds

  • Inter are 2nd on 25 points, three behind Lazio; Como are 4th on 23, so a Como win takes them above Inter.
  • Inter are without Lautaro Martínez; Como were without Moise Kean and four more of their squad on Sun 1 Nov, Football Italia reported.
  • Como arrive on six straight wins, and Inter still beat them at San Siro.

The story

Cesc Fàbregas's Como arrive full of goals. They won 9–1 at Lens in the Champions League on Wed 4 Nov, with a hat-trick from Anastasios Douvikas and Papaccioli scoring on his debut in stoppage time. That was their sixth win in a row in all competitions, a run that also took in a 4–1 against Manchester United. In Serie A they are fourth, two points behind Inter.

Cristian Chivu's Inter have had a rougher few games. They lost the derby 3–1 at AC Milan on Sat 31 Oct, three days after winning at Venezia, and they are without Lautaro Martínez, who has a hamstring strain, the club confirmed. They answered the derby well, though: 3–0 at Feyenoord on Tue 3 Nov, with goals from Yann Bisseck, Francesco Pio Esposito and Piotr Zieliński, and Alessandro Bastoni free again for Serie A after serving a Champions League ban.

Como's run hides a thin squad. Fàbregas was without Moise Kean, Assane Diao, Jesús Rodríguez, Addai and Trevoh Chalobah for the 1–0 win over Venezia on Sun 1 Nov. With Kean out, a lot rests on Nico Paz and Douvikas, and on Yan Couto and Álex Valle to give the side width from full-back.

This decides it: Federico Dimarco against Yan Couto on Inter's left. If Dimarco pins Couto back, Como lose their outlet on that side and Inter get the crosses Marcus Thuram and Esposito feed on; if Couto wins that duel, Como have the legs to hurt anyone.

Lautaro has 4 goals in Inter's last ten, so Inter lose one of their regular scorers; Thuram, with 3, started at Feyenoord. All three of Como's leading scorers in that window, Douvikas, Nico Paz and the centre-back Jacobo Ramón, started at Lens.

Who to watch

The duel to watch: Federico Dimarco against Yan Couto. Dimarco started at wing-back in Rotterdam and gives Inter their width on that side; Couto started at full-back in Lens and has to defend and attack the same flank.

↑ Our call

Como have not beaten Inter in any of the five, but the two spring games were close: Inter won 4–3 in Como on Sun 12 Apr 2026 and 3–2 at San Siro in the Coppa Italia nine days later.

Numbers that matter

InterComo

Goals scored, last ten: Inter 22, Como 26 (higher is better)

Como's total leans on one big night in the Champions League; Inter scored in every one of their ten.

Goals conceded, last ten · fewer is better: Inter 11, Como 10 (lower is better)

Almost level at the back: seven of Inter's came in two games, the derby and Brugge.

Clean sheets, last ten: Inter 5, Como 3 (higher is better)

The surprise: Inter keep the ball out more often, even after conceding four to Brugge.

Last ten games each, all competitions (Inter's include a friendly against Lumezzane on 3 Oct). OddsIntel match database, read 4 Nov 2026.

Our call, explained

Our call: Inter win 2–1. Como are the form team, and we expect them to score: Nico Paz finds space between the lines against anyone, and Douvikas is finishing everything. But Fàbregas has five players out, Kean among them, and much of Como's width now rests on two full-backs who also have to defend. Inter at San Siro, with Bastoni back and Dimarco on the left, are the side most able to make Couto defend first. Chivu's team have not looked watertight since the Brugge game, which is why we see Como scoring, but Inter's goals keep coming without Lautaro, and both close spring meetings went their way.

Where this could go wrong. Como won at Torino and Fiorentina in this run and have not lost since Wed 14 Oct, and if Paz gets on the ball facing goal, a Como win would not be a shock. If neither side's front line takes its chances, a 1–1 is the likelier miss. The other way, Inter put four past Como at San Siro in December 2025, and if Dimarco wins his side early, this could end more comfortably than 2–1.
